Free entry to the Guildhall Art and Amphitheatre. I booked but I didn't need to. Great environment to view an ancient monument.
At street level you can see the outline of the amphitheater shown by the thick black line outside Guildhall.
At the basement of the Guildhall Art Gallery; free entry. Full of history. Nice display with explanations.
History is my thing, and this has some really thought-provoking items.
Amazing! Able to get up close and see this historical site. Loved how the using a portion of the Amphitheater the exhibit created in a 360 dimension that helped you envision what it would have been like in roman times.
You don't usually think of London being Roman but it was too past years ago. Another great example of something free to do. They claim it says Roman amphitheatre on the sign but obviously it doesn't.. another example of poor London signage. Go to the door that I pictured here and they won't point you in the right direction because again there's no sign. Very cool place to spend short amount of time that not many people know of
Only found out about this place this year; a lot less famous than it deserves to be! In the basement of an art museum which wouldn't usually interest me, but the art was actually fairly enjoyable too!
A hidden gem! It is overwhelming the sense of wonder when you go through the door and see it the amphitheatre.
The quietest museum you'll ever go to in London. If you're into portraits, you could spend a good few hours looking through the guildhall gallery before going down. There was quite an interesting part on all the different building plans for London that never actually happened e.g. a monorail.
Amazing hidden gem in London! This is a must for history buffs. This wonderfully preserved Roman site is incredible and the story behind its' discovery and preservation is interesting and inspirational too. Definitely a site to give you 'goosebumps!'
